We have covered absolutely everything in wallpaper to show you that WALLPAPER IS ARCHITECTURE. We also wanted to generate the impact we were looking for with our Hygge design: falling into the ultimate state of pleasure. We’re imagining a setting, filled with steam, where the large format waves from our design envelope you and take you to a state of relaxation.

As you know, the Danish term Hygge means cosiness… it can be used to express those moments at home when we are truly comfortable.

In the Wander collection we have meandered through four continents, capturing the essence of unique places, and one of them was the minimalist Scandinavian look.

You’ll see that within each collection there are wall coverings with a repetitive pattern and murals with designs that resemble large-scale works of art. This is perhaps the first thing you need to decide on: do you want your design as a mural, or do you prefer a repetitive pattern?

Once you have selected the format you prefer – which, by the way, are both hung exactly the same in terms of method and tools – the next thing we recommend you do is to order a wallpaper sample from us, or else visit your nearest retailer where they can show you our catalogues.

The samples will arrive at your chosen address, and below are some tips to help you with your decision!

1. Leave the sample hung on the wall for a few days.
2. Check how it looks with the other design features of your home.
3. Observe the sample in both natural and artificial light.
4. Decide if you want to wallpaper every wall, or just one or two.
5. Measure the width and height of the walls.
6. You can calculate the number of rolls you need using the roll calculator on our website. 
7. If you have decided on a mural, you can create a simulation using the measurements of your wall on our website.

We have often tried to express the idea that wallpaper should be described as an architectural material… belonging to the ‘continent’, and not just the ‘content’.

It’s not an easy task, that’s for sure, but Coordonne’s creative team is a brave bunch! From September 2020 to July 2021, we will be demonstrating the concept with impressive images of avant-garde spaces, showing that our wall coverings are pure architecture.

We begin with an invasion of the Monstera Deliciosa leaves, inspired by Brazil. It’s the CARIOCA reference from the WANDER COLLECTION.

Jungle permeates the walls and floor of this cubic structure with all its strength: the power of nature and all its capabilities.

The holidays arrive and with them, curiosities which are typical of the summer season, such as: can wallpaper also be used to decorate a boat? The answer is yes!

The Coordonné team loves the sea and that is why we just couldn’t resist this. We have managed to ensure that our wallpapers, in addition to being fabulous for residential use, also meet the specifications required by maritime standards.

We’re talking about the TWEED and YUTE range from the H20 Textures collection. We have used a non-woven base with a resistant vinyl layer and a complex formwork with a raised texture, giving it a look of natural textile fibres. Looking at the result, the boat’s interiors seem like they have dressed in fabric.

The level of R&D means the wallcoverings have a high grammage, more than 400 g/m², with an incredible resistance to humidity. They are also IMO NAVALE certified.

Choosing a fabric for a sofa or armchair, or “ upholstery” as we say in the interior design industry, is not the same as selecting a fabric for curtains, cushions or a bedspread.

Focusing on these four uses, the Coordonné Team will now help you select the ideal fabric to decorate your home. From now on, take note of the following symbols that we always include on the hangers or sample books.

• For upholstery: make sure you look at the Martindale or rub test, which is how you will be able to tell the resistance the fabric has to being rubbed. A Martindale of 20,000 or higher is considered a fabric which is perfect for sofas and armchairs. Obviously, the higher the number, the more resistant the fabric will be and the greater its durability. We recommend our Venezia collections for plains and the Formentera collection for prints.

• For curtains: here it is important to pay attention to the weight of the fabric, which will influence the “presence” of the curtain, or how it hangs, as well as how transparent it is. It will also show the composition and width of the fabric. If the fabric is over 280 cm it is considered a double-width fabric. This makes it very useful for avoiding seams in the curtains and makes their production more economical. For curtain making, the Martindale is not relevant. We recommend our Bennu collection, Limoges for prints and the Ibiza collection for neutrals.

• For bedding: the composition is essential, since the more natural the thread, the more suitable and pleasing it is to the touch; this is a basic characteristic for bedding. Linen favours perspiration and helps prevent bed mites, but cottons are also a great choice. The finish of the fabric is also important, because if the linens are not suitable for frequent washing, they tend to become scratchy. The same occurs with cottons (lightweight varieties of 80-100 g and rassatos, or very soft cottons, are worth a look). You also have to check the width of the fabric to avoid seams, as with curtains. We recommend the Dense fabric from the Raw collection, and the Poniente fabrics from Ibiza.

• For cushions or other soft furnishings: you will have no problem selecting your fabric here, as you can simply focus on the aesthetics. The Martindale, composition, width or weight are all irrelevant. Here, your only essential is creativity: sizes, finishes, if it is removable or not… the technical characteristics of the fabric don’t matter.

It has been a creative exercise of the most demanding kind for our Coordonné team, imagining how iconic buildings would look with varied designs from our most recent collections: flowers from Metamorphosis, artisan ikat from Mallorca, herons from Sakura, exotic birds from Core, minimalist geometry from Mies, lions from the 40th Anniversary collection, the faces from Random Archist…

The objective was clear: we wanted to create a surprising visual impact and try to leave our mark on buildings such as La Pedrera in Barcelona, the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the Colosseum in Rome, Big Ben in London, the Guggenheim in Bilbao, the Erechtheion in Athens, the tower of Pisa, the Sacre Coeur in Paris, the Oceanarium in Lisbon, the Hospital Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona, ​​the facades of Warmoesstraat in Amsterdam and Xavier Corberó’s house in Barcelona.

It has been so worthwhile to discover the extreme optical effect produced by wallpapers on the walls. It is not just about decorating; it is about integrating wall coverings as one more architectural element.

What would our lives be like without letting our imagination run wild? So prepare yourselves… although the European Tour of wallpapering buildings has now ended, we will soon surprise you with new creative adventures!
